About School

Who are we?

Milana-Milwaukee Kannada Kali is school run by a group of volunteers passionate about imparting the language of Kannada as an alternative/foreign language. We run the school under the aegis of two non-profit organizations:

Milana Kannada Koota & Kannada Academy

Through Milana, we reach out to all the Kannada speaking families in Greater Milwaukee. While, Kannada Academy has a global network of 40+ Kannada schools and an administrative staff of 50+ volunteers that focus on:

  • Continuous review and revision of syllabus

  • Build of teaching methods through LMS

  • Accreditation of Kannada as a Foreign Language in American schools (this is work in progress)

  • Communication

Where is the school?

Under the current COVID-19 pandemic situation, we offer fully online lessons to the registered students. Classes are conducted through Google Classroom.

Long term goals are of location are under development.

Our Teaching Methodology

  • Instructions on language using visual aids

  • Simple instruction that is repeated through illustrations in our books

  • Two-way communication between teacher and student in an informal environment.

  • Attention is given to students learning through examples, and Q&A during the classes.

  • Usage of English to support learning to the students who don't understand Kannada initially.

  • Continuous validation of the learning through LMS assignments imparted through Google Classroom.

  • Mid-term assessments and final assessment on completion of a level/semester.

Our Students

Currently, our registered students are from Greater Milwaukee (New Berlin, Brookfield, Oak Creek), Racine, Fond du Lac, Madison and Minneapolis.
